00 Welcome

Welcome to the Do You Live in a Castle Blog

I don’t write because I have it all figured out.

I write because I’m still in the middle of the journey—still discovering rooms in my own castle, still learning what it means to trust God when His timing doesn’t match mine, still figuring out how to live with the drawbridge down instead of the walls up.

If you’ve read Do You Live in a Castle?, you know the metaphor: we build walls to protect ourselves from pain, only to realize we’ve trapped ourselves inside. The book is about how God transforms those fortresses into homes—not by tearing them down, but by renovating them from the inside out.

This blog is where I continue that conversation.

Some posts are responses to songs that stopped me in my tracks. Some are wrestlings with Scripture that won’t let me go. Some are stories from my own 31-year journey of waiting on God to make sense of a calling He gave me in 1994. And some are just me thinking out loud about what it means to live as a follower of Christ in a world that wants everything fast—including faith.

What you’ll find here:

  • Long-form articles (not quick takes—I tend to think in paragraphs, not soundbites)
  • Vulnerable storytelling (I write from the middle of the mess, not the mountaintop)
  • Scripture-anchored reflections (the Bible is the foundation, not an afterthought)
  • Castle metaphors woven throughout (because once you see the walls, you can’t unsee them)
  • Series that dive deep

What you won’t find here:

  • Guru positioning (I’m a fellow traveler, not an expert)
  • Easy answers (real transformation takes time)
  • Performance-based Christianity (grace is the foundation, not the finish line)
  • Bullet-point faith (the journey is too complex for formulaic steps)

I write for people who are tired of living behind walls. For those who’ve been waiting years—maybe decades—for God to fulfill a promise. For anyone who’s chosen joy one day and felt crushed by circumstances the next. For parents praying their kids will encounter God the way they have. For anyone who knows what it’s like to have faith that looks more like endurance than conquest.

If that’s you, welcome.

Pull up a chair. Grab some coffee. And let’s walk this road together.
